Paul Anka, singer song-writer
Paul Anka was born in Ottowa, Canada in 1941 to Lebanese parents. Anka was unique among late fifties teen idols in that he was also a successful songwriter. Among his many hits are Puppy Love recorded by Donny Osmond, . He also wrote the lyrics for My Way (Frank Sinatra) and She's a Lady (Tom Jones). To date, he has amassed worldwide record sales in excess of a hundred million copies. He returned to Lebanon for sell-out performances at the Forum de Beyrouth in 1999 where this famous son was received with typical Lebanese hospitality – he even invited the then First Lady Mona Hrawi to join him in a dance off-stage.
